Aug 20, 2007 · The opa627 is good, opa637 is better but you'd best trace out the circuit first and figure out what gain the tl071 is running at before trying to use one. the opa637 is the uncompensated version, needs a gain higher than 5. Since this is a phono preamp, the gain is probably way higher than 5, but, it's best to know for sure.

Jan 20, 2018 · I do not think you will find many members here familiar with that phono preamplifier. Are there any adjustments on any of the three phono preamplifiers? It may just be a mismatch on your cartridge and the phono pres in question. Most of the cheaper phono preamplifiers are based on a integrated circuit chip. Variations of the NE5532.
Here is a pretty basic Bass and Treble tone control circuit. This was originally designed using the ua741 op-amp, now updated to use the NE5532. The frequency response, with the tone controls centered or on bypass, is about -1db at 20hz and flat to 20khz.
